The COVID-19 Virtual Symposium began April 2020 at the peak of the pandemic in an effort to inform our Columbia community and beyond on the latest research done to better understand COVID-19.
Since April 2020 we have organized 37 Symposia and are now looking for new volunteers to help!
The Symposium is held once a month, typically on a Wednesday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Open volunteer positions are listed below.
- Team Manager (1 open position)
- Communicate with Symposium organizers (Drs. Andrea Califano, Stephan Goff, Eric Greene, Andrew Marks)
- Recruit speakers and communicate with them about the final Symposium agenda and Zoom info.
- Work with the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research to update webpage
- Work with webinar support group at MSPH to organize Zoom links/invitation, and advertising COVID-19 Virtual Symposium to our listserv
- Attend Wednesday Symposium to make sure everything runs smoothly
- Video Editor (2 open positions)
- Edit recorded talks into individual segments, and post on YouTube page
- Summary Writers (multiple open positions)
- Write short summaries for the talks presented and submit summaries to team manager in a timely manner
