Summer Research Opportunity: Fred Hutch Cancer Center SURP

 About the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP)

The SURP is an intensive, 9-week internship designed to provide research experience and mentorship for rising-senior undergraduate students who are interested in biomedical research. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, students will:

  • Complete an independent research project;
  • Attend weekly research seminars;
  • Participate in professional development workshops designed to facilitate the preparation of competitive applications for graduate/medical school; and
  • Present their findings at a competitive poster session.

The program will run from Monday, June 16 – Friday, August 152025An online application for the 2025 SURP is now available on the SURP website.

 

The application deadline is midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Friday, January 10, 2025. Letters of recommendation for up to two references are due by midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Friday, January 17, 2025.

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Medical Career Design Fellowship

The Orthopedic Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) funds a select number of Medical Career Design (MCD) Fellowships to allow recent college graduates the opportunity to explore many aspects of a medical career — research, clinical practice, education, advocacy and leadership. A minimum 2-year commitment is required. Successful MCD Fellow applicant will be completing a BA/BS degree. We will accepting applications on a rolling basis until March 1. Summer Research Opportunity: Harvard Amgen Scholars Program

Apply to the Harvard Amgen Scholars Program! 

The Harvard Amgen Scholars Program invites current sophomores, current juniors and non-graduating seniors interested in biotechnology and biomedical sciences to apply by Feb. 1.  The program, which will run early June through mid-August, is a 9.5-10-week residential program for students interested in doing biotechnology and biomedical science research and in pursuing a PhD or MD/PhD. Students will work on research projects in Harvard laboratories and will participate in pre-professional development workshops and lectures. Students will have the opportunity to explore Cambridge, Boston and the surrounding areas through social activities with cohort members. Harvard Amgen Scholars receive free housing and meals at Harvard University’s Cambridge campus, a stipend and receive support toward travel to/from Boston. Amgen Scholars attend the Amgen Scholars North American Conference at University of California, Los Angeles, with travel, lodging and meals at this conference fully paid. At the conference, students will participate in networking activities and lectures with other Amgen Scholars from host institutions and meet Amgen scientists and Amgen Scholars program alumni.
