The Mentor-in-Residence program provides an opportunity to learn about an industry from an industry expert. Dr. Anne Chew, Chief Operating and Strategic Officer, Executive Deputy Director for the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine built a cell therapy program that partnered with Novartis to achieve FDA approval for the first CAR-T cell therapy for cancer. She was also a co-founder of two biotech companies. Come chat with her!

Alumnae Panel Event: A Day in the Life of a Med Student

Join us for a panel discussion of the stages of medical education, featuring Barnard alumnae who are currently in medical school! Panelists will discuss their paths to medicine as well as lessons they have learned as they've embarked on medical school curricula.

The Peer Career Advisor (PCA) program at Barnard College offers motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors the opportunity to contribute to and enhance the programs and services at Beyond Barnard. As a PCA, you'll be fully trained to assist your peers with resume and cover letter writing, LinkedIn & Handshake profiles, networking, interviewing, and internship/job search strategies. You will also collaborate with Resident Assistants, student clubs, and other departments to offer customized workshops to students. You will also have an opportunity to support Beyond Barnard's social media initiatives to advertise services and resources. 

 

Qualifications:

Peer Career Advisor candidates should be rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors who have strong communication, organizational, and administrative skills. An ideal PCA candidate is flexible, comfortable with collaboration, and able to take initiative. 

 

Compensation: $16/hour

  Confirmed Panelists: Talil Wigod '14 - Research Director/Staff Psychologist at Cognitive Behavioral Consultants Katharine Loeb '91 - Director of Research and Training at Chicago Center for Evidence Based Treatment Aurelie Athan '97 - Research Associate Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University Gina Davis ‘07 - Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Lyra Health Below, you'll find the full bios of the panelists: Talil Wigod '14 Dr. Tali Wigod is a staff psychologist and research director at CBC, where she works full-time with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She has extensive training in the implementation of evidenced based treatments for anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, self-injury, suicidality, behavioral difficulties, and trauma. Dr. Wigod has training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and completed an intensive training program in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In her role as the Research Coordinator, she coordinates a wide range of research activities focusing on dissemination, implementation science, and prevention research. Dr. Wigod earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Economics from Barnard College at Columbia University. She received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from LIU-Post. For her doctoral dissertation, she compared parent acceptability and preference of two models of treatment targeting early child behavioral problems. Katharine Loeb '91 Katharine L. Loeb, PhD is a Barnard alumna (class of 1991) and licensed clinical psychologist who has devoted her three-decade career to the research and treatment of eating, feeding, and weight disorders. She has also played an integral role in training future scientists and clinicians in this field. In 2020, Dr. Loeb retired as Professor of Psychology in the PhD Program in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) and joined the team at the Chicago Center for Evidence Based Treatment as the Director of Research and Training. Dr. Loeb received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. She was the founding Director of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Eating and Weight Disorders Program; at FDU, she was Director of both the Eating, Feeding, and Weight Disorders Lab and Clinical Practicum. She has also been a faculty member, trainer, and certified therapist of the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders since its inception. Dr. Loeb has been inducted as a Fellow in the Academy for Eating Disorders and in the Association for Psychological Science, and she is a recipient of the FDU Distinguished Faculty Award for Research and Scholarship. Dr. Loeb’s research involves improving case identification of and parenting capacities in managing child and adolescent eating disorders, and systems-level strategies, including applied behavioral economics, for pediatric overweight and obesity. Current students can register to meet with Amee Wurzburg, Public Health Program Specialist, Youth Health and Well-Being at Peace Corps, on Friday, March 26th. Amee supports Peace Corps posts in designing, implementing, and evaluating public health programs (especially youth sexual and reproductive health). Additionally, Amee serves as the technical assistance provider and content expert across the agency on youth health and well-being.
