Job Opportunity: Medical Assistant
Job Description:
In this full-time job, you will work directly with the doctor, a group of medical assistants, administrative staff, and patients. On the patient-facing side, assistants learn to take an accurate and thorough history, assess vital signs, and assist with various interventional pain management procedures. By interacting directly with patients, assistants learn about anatomy, symptomatology, and pharmacology as related to pain medicine and management. On the administrative side, assistants learn to organize patient appointments, assist with chart notes, liaison with other doctors and healthcare professionals, and help manage varied facets of insurances. Assistants also become familiar with the electronic health system and how technology integrates with patient-care. In this fast-paced, hands-on work environment, assistants cultivate the skills to work effectively in a group, communicate effectively with patients, and clinically treat disease.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree and the successful completion of premedical coursework or a post-baccalaureate premedical program
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

Job Opportunity: Research Assistant, NYU Langone Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism
- Basic lab duties under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision.
- Performs routine technical tasks, and assists in the general maintenance of the lab, such as prepare stock reagents and solutions and maintaining lab databases.
- General techniques in standard molecular biology techniques like DNA and RNA isolation, regular PCR, realtime PCR, western blotting, ELISA.
- Lipid assays, Tissue sectioning, immunofluorescent staining and imaging.

The PPSC has worked with ThinkMCAT to set up a discounted summer MCAT prep course running from June 21st - September 1st. Registration is now open! You can register on Eventbrite here.
Note: If you were enrolled in the ThinkMCAT course last semester (Spring 2019) you do not have to pay for this course; you will be automatically enrolled.

Weekly Class Times: Sunday 10:00am - 12:00pm and Tuesday 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Tuition Cost: $125 (payable via Eventbrite registration)
Textbook Information: Purchasing the books for this course is the responsibility of the student. You have the choice of audio or written books.
Audio books can be purchased via ThinkMCAT.
The written book covers all subjects except verbal and costs $75 (plus $15 for shipping). You can purchase the written book by emailing Scott, the instructor, at thinkmcat@gmail.com with your shipping address and to confirm payment. Payment for the written book can be made via Paypal or Quickpay (Zelle) to thinkmcat@gmail.com. Books usually arrive within 5 business days.
