KaTrina Rawlins, JD, Health Educator, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center KaTrina E. Rawlins is a Health Advocate and seeks to empower people with information to make positive lifestyle changes. She is passionate about improving health outcomes in under-served communities. She joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2003. She currently is employed as a Health Educator at the MSK Ralph Lauren Center located in East Harlem. In her current role, she collaborates with several community-based organizations, social service organizations, and faith-based organizations throughout New York City to address the importance of early screening for cancer. She coordinates educational programs to link community members with access to health screenings and other relevant resources. Ms. Rawlins earned her BA in Political Science from Barnard College, Columbia University. She completed her JD with a concentration in 1)Affordable Housing and 2) Finance Transactions and Community Economic Development and LLM in Criminal Law at the University at Buffalo School of Law. In addition, she received an Executive Education Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Fordham University and a Civic Engagement and Leadership Development certificate from the CUNY School of Professional Studies.  She is a member of the New York and New Jersey State Bar. She is involved with numerous community and professional organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

  Gillian Dean, MD, MPH, Senior Director of Medical Services, Planned Parenthood Federation of America Gillian Dean, MD, MPH (she/her) is the Senior Director of Medical Services at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, responsible for supporting Planned Parenthood affiliates nationwide in the delivery of high quality evidence-based health care. She provides clinical care and training at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where she founded and directed the Fellowship in Family Planning. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and online resources and frequently quoted in print and online media. Dr. Dean is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist and a fellow of the Society of Family Planning and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Dean received her undergraduate degree in Women's Studies from Barnard College and her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco where she subsequently completed a Fellowship in Family Planning. She received an MPH in Health Policy and Management from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. Megan Cloidt, Dental Public Health Resident (Dentist), Jacobi Medical Center Dr. Megan Cloidt, DDS, MPH is a public health dentist currently working at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. She graduated from Barnard in 2013 with a BA in Neuroscience & Behavior. Following graduation, she worked at the New York State Psychiatric Institute as a laboratory technician in a neuroscience lab. She went on to attend Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and Mailman School of Public Health in a 5 year dual-degree DDS-MPH program and graduated in 2019. Her practicum project focused on the connections between edentulism (tooth loss), nutrition, and homelessness in Harlem. She completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at Columbia/New York Presbyterian Hospital in June 2020. In April of her residency year, she was deployed to NYP Hospital to help with the COVID crisis, which highlighted the importance of public health efforts. This experience influenced her to delve further into public health by engaging in a Dental Public Health residency at Jacobi Medical Center, which is where she is today. Dr. Cloidt spends her days conducting dental public health research, program planning for the dental residents, and clinical duties serving Jacobi's HIV+ population. Annie Frisse, OBGYN Fellow in Complex Family Planning, Mount Sinai After matriculating from Barnard College, Annie Frisse received her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where she served as Administrative Chief Resident. In residency she received several teaching awards and the Chair's Research Prize for her research on risk factors and outcomes of malpositioned intrauterine devices. She is currently a fellow in Complex Family Planning at Mount Sinai Hospital and is pursuing a Masters in Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her research interests include contraception access, medical education in contraception and abortion, and teen sexual health.

Job Opportunity: Clinical Research Coordinator, CUMC Rheumatology

The Division of Rheumatology at Columbia University Medical Center seeks a research coordinator to provide support for several clinical trials and observational studies.  The coordinator will support the PI and other research coordinators in conducting clinical trials and observational studies that focus on scleroderma and autoimmune-related interstitial lung disease. The coordinator will report to and be supervised by the study PI. 

The coordinator will assist with (1) the identification, screening, and assessment of potential subjects for studies, (2) data preparation and study file maintenance, (3) obtaining informed consent, ordering pre-randomization tests, and ordering study drugs, and (4) ensuring compliance and study protocol and maintaining case report forms.  The coordinator will also be responsible for retrieval and data entry from the study site and for providing ongoing reports for the PI.  The coordinator will perform other duties as assigned.

 

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in the sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, or related fields, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

 

The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo drug screening prior to a final offer of employment being made.

Job Description

A vibrant and collaborative scientific group studies numerous aspects of neurological disease etiology and pathogenesis. These studies follow a number of longitudinal cohorts of neurological patients, on whom exquisite phenotypic and biomarker data are collected, yielding large data sets that are ripe for analysis and preparation of manuscripts for peer-submission.
This individual will spearhead data analysis and paper writing efforts from these data sets. 
 

Job Duties
Perform qualitative interviews and/or administer quantitative surveys to research participants. 
Prepares protocols and detailed summaries for multiple research studies. 
Apply advanced knowledge of research methodology and techniques to develop more complex survey instruments; evaluate methodologies and tools and suggest modifications for improvement. 
Perform a variety of complex and independent activities involved in the analysis and interpretation of results and the preparation of manuscripts for publication. 
Contribute to reports, papers and other publications; prepare tables and graphs for publication and presentation. 
Assist in developing and submitting grant proposals. 
Supervise data collectors and data analysts. 
Performs other duties as assigned.

New to being a prehealth student at Barnard? Whether you're a first-year, transfer student, or returning student who has just decided to pursue a career in health professions, your first stop is a Prehealth Overview session!

Prehealth Overviews are small-group sessions designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of being a prehealth student. We discuss academic preparation, developing a portfolio of experiences, and navigating the application process. Before scheduling an individual advising appointment, all students should attend an Overview session. 

Prehealth Overviews will be held throughout the fall semester. The first two sessions this fall will be:
