Globemed at Columbia: Spring Recruitment due Sunday 1/28

GlobeMed at Columbia is accepting applications for Spring 201
8
!

GlobeMed is a national, university-based nonprofit

with over 60 chapters
founded on the belief that students can be agents to increase and promote health and justice for all. We believe the most effective way to advance global health equity is to develop long-term partnerships with existing grassroots organizations that understand and serve their communities. Columbia's GlobeMed chapter works closely with GWED-G, a grassroots nonprofit in Gulu, Uganda, to design and implement an HIV/AIDS and maternal health project each year. During the school year we collaborate, fundraise and raise awareness about global health issues. In the summer, five of our members intern in Gulu to evaluate and improve our project. GlobeMed provides incredible leadership opportunities and practical experience for anyone interested in global health, social justice, nonprofits, human rights, healthcare, development work, marketing and design, communications,
or
business and event management.

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page (
https://www.facebook.com/GlobeMedatColumbia/
) for posts regarding our upcoming information session!
Applications for Spring 2018 can be found here (https://goo.gl/forms/UnzgjjwOZ1hfl9e52) and are due Sunday 1/28 by 11:59PM EST.

Research Opportunity for Alums: Within the Northwell Health System

Hello, I am a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research which is part of the Northwell Health System located in Manhasset, NY.  We are looking to expand our program and bring on new and recent college graduates who are interested in clinical research, biostatistics, informatics and/or research administration. Visiting Scholars provide project management support while working closely with experienced clinicians, researchers, and administrative staff. Participation provides a unique opportunity for Visiting Scholars to interact with medical school faculty and staff in a high-acuity healthcare environment while developing mentor-mentee relationships to help them prepare for a career in medicine.

Please contact Justin Underwood at junderwood@northwell.edu for more information!
