Volunteers will:
- Provide the Medicine and Geriatrics Clinics at Bellevue Hospital (462 1st Ave) with assistance in connection patients with resources; direct patients through the Ambulatory Care Center at Bellevue
- Participate in efforts under a study entitled "Transforming Health Care Systems through Interprofessional Training and Health Professional Team Development in Primary Care in Urban Underserved Settings"
- Gain a better understanding of the different roles in the Adult Primary Care Clinic at Bellevue through working alongside an interdisciplinary team of healthcare workers with the potential to shadow a physician
Responsibilities include:
- Assist patients by participating in their care process; engaging patients in the care process and helping patients find the appropriate locations for the care they require
- Ensure the highest level of efficiency in the clinic by communicating with patients during their check-in process
- Compassionately coordinate and organize patient flow, including crowd control, queue management, and equitable service provision to all patients
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
- Work at least 3 - 12 hours of availability on weekdays (generally 8-11am, 12-3pm, 2-5pm with few limited opportunities to work 5-8pm)
- 1-year commitment; must communicate in a timely manner with supervisor about any schedule changes
- Fast learner
- Bilingual is a plus (Spanish, Mandarin, Bengali, and French preferred)
