Georgetown Masters Program Info Sessions

Our graduate programs in Physiology...

The MS in Physiology

The MS in Physiology at Georgetown is a rigorous one-year, non-thesis master’s program designed from the medical curriculum and offered in a traditional semester-based format.  Students complete 30 credits of coursework, including elective credits to tailor the program to their interests (with options across our biomedical departments) and an opportunity for lab research in the spring.  Advising from our expert faculty on academics and the medical school admissions process is provided throughout the program year.  Cohort size is 35-40 students, average GPA is 3.5, and no test score is required.

The Special Master’s Program (SMP)

Established more than 40 years ago as the first of its kind, Georgetown’s SMP has a longstanding reputation for quality and success. The set curriculum of 31 credits is taken on a modular schedule from early August until early June.  This program incorporates some of GUSOM’s M1 courses and grades students against the performance of the M1s.  Top performing SMP students with competitive applications have an opportunity to interview with GUSOM in late spring.  Cohort size is 180-200 students, average GPA is 3.2, and MCAT score 510+ preferred.

George Squared (G²)

G² is a one-year, 20-credit graduate certificate in Advanced Biomedical Sciences taught jointly by faculty from Georgetown University Medical Center and George Mason University.  In addition to the core faculty, a cadre of dedicated TAs provide comprehensive academic support for all courses throughout the program year.  Optional MCAT/DAT prep is also included in the program for interested students.  Cohort size is 75-100 students, average GPA is 3.2, and test score is not required.  After successful completion, students can transfer all 20 credits into the MS in Physiology if eligible.
