Are you interested in joining CUEMS? CUEMS is a student-run, volunteer ambulance providing FREE emergency medical care to Columbia University and the greater Morningside Heights area.
Ideal candidates for CUEMS probationary membership are undergraduate or graduate students from Columbia or Barnard dedicated to serving their community.
Probationary Member responsibilities include:
Working one regular 12-hour shift each week, with two to three additional 12-hour weekend shifts each month during the probationary semester
Collaborating in teams of three to four to provide prehospital medical care free of charge to patients in need
Arriving to shift mentally and physically prepared to serve the Columbia and greater Morningside Heights community
Requirements:
New York State EMT license. Applicants with non-NYS EMT licenses are still eligible to join, but must obtain reciprocity by the end of their probationary semester (see NYS-DOH for more information)
Valid CPR certification
Valid driver’s license
Willing to commit at least four semesters to working for CUEMS (summer semester can be included)
To join CUEMS, applicants must attend a mandatory information session, schedule an interview, and submit a written application. Please register here for one of our two info sessions. Info sessions will be Tuesday, January 25 and Wednesday, January 26 from 1900-2000 (7:00-8:00pm). The membership application is found here, but is not due until after the info session.
