Kuchnir Dermatology Bridge Year Program

The Kutchnir Dermatology Bridge Year Program provides clinical experience for those interested in pursuing an interactive, patient-oriented gap year for 14 or 26 months prior to medical school matriculation. Students in the program learn about medicine by scribing for physicians, coordinating patient care, attending educational events, and receiving mentorship from practicing dermatologists. This unique opportunity allows students to develop strong interpersonal skills with patients along with a solid foundation of the healthcare system, especially the intricacies of administrative work that go into achieving high-quality patient care.

The program seeks highly energetic students passionate about patient care with an aspiration to become a well-rounded physician. Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the life-long learning that is required once matriculating to medical school. The program offers positions in the Boston area along with a few opportunities out of state. Interested applicants may apply by emailing their resume and a cover letter addressed to Dr. Louis Kuchnir at gapyearkdds@gmail.com by Friday, January 11, 2019. Interviews will be conducted in person or via Skype in January and February. Please note that the time commitment is from June 2019 to July 2020 or July 2021 depending on intended medical school matriculation. Please also note that you must have a valid driver's license and a car, as all clinics are not accessible by public transportation.
