RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION: SCAN Lab | NYU Langone Health

The Social Cognitive Affective Neurodevelopment Laboratory (SCAN Lab) at NYU Langone Health (PI: Dr. Moriah Thomason) is seeking applications for a full-time SPANISH-FLUENT Research Associate. The SCAN Lab conducts research focused on social and environmental determinants of perinatal health and early human brain development. This particular position is for the HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study. The landmark HBCD Study is a multi-modal study, collecting different forms of data through brain imaging methods, such as MRI and EEG to investigate function in infant and toddler brains. The HBCD Study also collects behavioral data, anthropomorphic data, and biospecimen samples which allow us to measure biomolecules such as hormones, microbiota, and inflammatory markers. The Research Associate would gain first-hand experience with the methodologies mentioned above, becoming involved in direct data collection for pregnant mothers, as well as infants and toddlers.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact with research participants for recruitment and longitudinal study retention
  • Lead study visits with participants and their families
  • Coordinate collection of biospecimen samples, behavioral data, MRI imaging, and EEG data
  • Ensure compliance with research protocols and processes
  • Track and report data collection

Qualifications:

  • Spanish-fluent
  • Willingness to receive phlebotomy training and collect blood samples from study participants
  • This position is for a minimum of two years
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology, or health-sciences related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel)
  • Experience with R and/or Python, SPSS, etc. (preferred)
  • Commitment to the consistent maintenance, accuracy, and completeness of data
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Availability for late-night (e.g. 8pm-12am) MRI visits
  • Availability for weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) MRI visits

 

The salary range for the role is $50,000 - $55,000 per year.
