Prehealth Overview - Monday 3/25

New prehealth students (or students who are new to prehealth studies, or want to learn how to begin) are welcome to join in our next Prehealth Overview, this Monday, March 25, 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Get back into the spring semester by learning about prehealth coursework, portfolio development, and application basics. To RSVP, click here! Ohio State Optometry I-DOC Program

The 13th annual I-DOC (Improving Diversity in Optometric Careers) program will take place on the campus of The Ohio State University from July 14-17th.  I-DOC is an intensive four-day residential program that introduces participants to the profession of optometry. The purpose of I-DOC is to attract underrepresented minority undergraduate college students to careers in optometry.  Applications are now available at http://go.osu.edu/I-DOC2019 and will be accepted through May 3rd.

Thanks to underwriting by Vision Service Plan (VSP), there is no registration fee for the program. Also, all meals, housing, airfare, transportation, and activities are included.  Thirty students from across the United States will be selected to participate.

Columbia Institute of Human Nutrition Info Session 4/11/19

Interested in learning more about degree options in nutrition? On Thursday, April 11, 2019, 12:00 - 1:00 PM, please join Barnard alumna Grace Shadid '16 for an information session on Columbia's Institute of Human Nutrition, which offers a 1 year master's degree program, including a research thesis in basic science, clinical nutrition, or public health nutrition. Prehealth students are invited to learn about the master's degree as a gap year opportunity. Lunch will be served!

Mentor-In-Residence: Dr. Maureen Strafford

Happy Spring Break! On Monday, March 25, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM, Beyond Barnard will be joined by Dr. Maureen Strafford, physician and member of the Tufts School of Medicine admissions committee. Students who are interested in meeting with Dr. Strafford for half-hour appointments are encouraged to RSVP today! This is a great opportunity to meet with a Barnard alumna and gain more perspective on the process of admission to medical school.
