Opportunity to Present at National Undergraduate Research Conference at Brown University 2025

The first annual National Undergraduate Research Conference at Brown University is scheduled for April 12th, 2025! 

The conference will be hosted on Brown University's campus at the Engineering Research Center, bringing together 200 talented students from across the nation. This conference will serve as an opportunity to secure yourself a conference poster or oral presentation to demonstrate your research excellence. Abstracts will be reviewed on a rolling basis with limited spots available (200 poster presentations and 10-20 oral presentations).

The early application deadline is January 31st, 2025 and the regular application deadline is March 1st, 2025.

Mentorship Opportunity: PrIMES

The PrIMES Mentorship Program, supported by Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, seeks to empower URiM (Underrepresented in Medicine) pre-med students by pairing them with current medical students or resident physicians as mentors.

PrIMES is dedicated to helping students overcome the unique barriers they face in applying to and matriculating into medical school. Through mentorship, the program aims to increase diversity in medical education and provide guidance and support to students from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

Recruitment has begun for the 2025 virtual cohort. The program is entirely online and requires a commitment of just one hour per week, along with a few online events where mentors and mentees can connect and socialize.

CUEMS Info Sessions & Sponsorship

 Want to join CUEMS? Want to become EMT-B certified for free? Read on if so!

Columbia University Emergency Medical Service (CUEMS) is hosting information sessions for sponsorship and membership for Spring 2025! CUEMS is Columbia's student-operated, New York State-certified, basic-life support (BLS) volunteer ambulance corps. CUEMS provides free prehospital emergency medical care to Columbia University's Morningside Heights Campus and the surrounding area, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have the same capabilities as any 911 BLS ambulance. Sponsorship and membership opportunities are open to Columbia University students.

Sponsorship refers to the process for those who do not yet have their EMT-B certification but want to obtain one. Those selected for CUEMS sponsorship are able to obtain their EMT-B certification at no cost through a course offered by CodeOne, Inc. Students who participate in sponsorship are expected to take the NYS EMT-B exam upon completion of the course.

Membership refers to the process of joining CUEMS. Membership is only open to those who already have an EMT-B certification in the state of NY and a valid U.S. driver’s license.

To apply for sponsorship or membership, attending an information session is mandatory. Please be on time for the information sessions. Doors will close strictly at 8:00 P.M. and late arrivals will not be welcome.

Summer Research Opportunity: CLIMB UP at the University at Buffalo

The Collaborative Learning and Integrated Mentoring in the Biosciences Undergraduate Program is a paid summer research opportunity where we match students with faculty mentors whose research aligns with their interests. Accepted students work full-time in a lab to gain hands on research experience. The program ends with students presenting their research with an oral presentation and a poster symposium! 

The benefits of being accepted into CLIMB UP:

• Research. Get hands-on research experience during the 9-week program with a participating faculty member whose interests are complimentary to your own. The summer will culminate with you and your peers presenting your work at the Summer Research Day.
• Mentoring. In addition to your faculty mentor, you will receive mentoring and guidance from graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and the CLIMB leadership to ensure you have a productive and fulfilling summer. They will work with you on your research project, help you prepare your presentations, and provide insight on careers in science.
• Stipend. Funds are provided for all accepted students with a stipend of $3,500.00 and a stipend for meals. 
• Housing and Travel. Housing and travel are provided to students who live 50 miles outside of Buffalo, NY.
• Weekly Workshops. CLIMB UP's BioSTEM Scientific Discovery Series introduces students to research fields available at UB. Faculty from various departments will present an overview of their laboratory work, and will describe their career paths to show students the variety of options they can achieve with their degree.
• Networking. Learn more about fellowship and scholarship opportunities as well as building lasting connections with mentors and other students.

Cohen Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) is offering clinical research internship opportunities in 9 different pediatric sub-specialty areas:

CCMC’s Summer internship program has grown steadily since 2012 based on the extraordinary feedback from past interns and the equally positive experience that clinical faculty have experienced while working with bright, highly talented, and motivated students.

Tufts Summer Research Experience: Building Diversity in Biomedical Sciences for Undergraduates (Info Session 1/8)

Building Diversity in Biomedical Sciences provides a mentored, 10-week research intensive experience for 16-20 undergraduates who are interested in pursuing PhD or MD/PhD training upon completion of the baccalaureate degree. The program will run this year from May 26-August 1, 2025. Students receive a salary of $5,200 (before taxes) as well as housing and the cost of transportation to and from the Boston area at the start and conclusion of the program are both covered. Funded by the NIH, BDBS seeks to promote diversity and inclusion in biomedical sciences by providing research and career development opportunities for underrepresented groups in the field (as defined by the NIH). Application deadline is February 1, 2025.
