Barnard welcomes back Dr. Nieca Goldberg '79, a pioneer in women's heart health for the Being the First series. Being the First showcases trailblazers and those who were "the first" in their field. Goldberg graduated from Barnard College and received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Author of the award-winning book The Women's Healthy Heart Program, Goldberg is the medical director of the Joan H. Tisch Center for Women's Health at NYU Langone, a national spokesperson for the American Heart Association, and she started the "Go Red for Women" campaign. Nikki Youngblood Giles, associate dean for Beyond Barnard, joins Goldberg to discuss her education at Barnard, her thoughts on research and medical care for women, the value of a STEM education, and the trajectory of her career.
