Volunteer Opportunity: Columbia Global Brigades

Global Brigades is a student-led sustainable organization, whose goal is to empower the underserved communities around the world. The students volunteer abroad to help improve the quality of life and the environment with the holistic approach. Global Brigades have different chapters like Medical, Dental, Public Health, Environmental, Water, Microfinance, and Business Brigades. In the past years, Columbia University chapter have helped development in Honduras, Panama and Ghana. We also volunteer in our local community, Harlem, helping conduct blood pressure at the health fairs and empower community members to take care fo their health!

Job Opportunity: Study Coordinator, Hospital for Special Surgery

Job Description 
Study Coordinator 

The Laboratory of Dr. Park-Min (website: parkminlab.com) is seeking a part-time/full time study coordinator for the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. The study  coordinator will assist with the execution of clinical research trials and will be responsible  for the collection, compilation, and documentation of research data, ensuring  compliance and accurate adherence to research protocols and the overall practice of  clinical trials. The study coordinator will process samples and analyze data. These  positions provide opportunities to develop independent projects and obtain training and  experience relevant for graduate, dental, or medical school. Positions are available  beginning May 2021. 

Responsibilities: 
• Coordination of research projects under faculty supervision 
• Screening patients for eligibility in clinical trials; recruiting and enrolling eligible  patients in studies; reviewing patient history and recording appropriate pre-study  laboratory data; obtaining laboratory blood work from patients and arranging  other necessary testing; processing, storing, and shipping specimens; assisting in  informed consent of patients in clinical trials; following up with study patients. 

Minimum job requirements: 
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 
• Good communication skills 
• Proficient use of technology (e.g., Microsoft Office)

Event: Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Impressions Program

Hello! We would like to invite you to this year's Student National Dental Association's (SNDA) Spring Impressions Program with Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Usually, this program is held online, however due to the current pandemic, we will be hosting this event virtually through Zoom.  This unique opportunity offers a fun and interactive day with current dental students and dental faculty members. If you are interested in exploring the field of dentistry and/or learning how to apply to dental school, then the Impressions Program is perfect for you!  

Participants will be able to hear about the lives of current dental students, learn about the application and interview processes, and ask any questions about dentistry and dental school at large. The Armed Forces will also present on scholarship opportunities during and after dental school. Please join us for this fun-filled day! We will even be raffling off prizes including DAT Destroyer Books and a DAT Bootcamp Subscription discount.
