Paid Summer Research Opportunity: PrIMER

Volunteer Opportunity – Columbia University Irving Medical Center

 Description:

We wish to advise you that we have a volunteer position available immediately for Seniors, Post-Baccalaureate Students, and recent Graduates, in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology. The volunteer will provide assistance on multiple ongoing clinical research protocols. Significant duties will include keeping records of test project results, conducting online literature research, and assisting with manuscript/grant proposal preparation.

 

Volunteers may have the opportunity to observe in the Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic and attend weekly clinical rounds in addition to their volunteer time. Volunteers must be willing to commit to 8 hours a week. Hours can be split across two days. 

 

Please note, this is a non-compensable volunteer opportunity.

 

Qualifications:

Volunteers should have or be enrolled in coursework in chemistry, biology, physics or a related science or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

The applicant must demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate, an ability to perform work in a neat and orderly manner, and an ability to learn and adapt to new techniques.

 

Proficiency with computer operations and software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

LIU Vet Event with CCNY

Please join CCNY Pre-Health as we welcome Dr. Laurie Roberson, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Dr. Gillian Angliss, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs with Long Island University's College of Veterinary Medicine!


They will both be on hand to discuss LIU Vet and becoming a competitive applicant to vet school.  This event will not be recorded.  The presentation will be virtual (via zoom).

SHPEP Application Open

The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free summer program for students to explore their interests in medicine, dentistry, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, public health, and more. With the goal of increasing the acceptance rates of applicants that apply to health professions schools who come from underrepresented and marginalized communities, the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) National Program Office and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation offer a stipend of $1000 for participation. 

SHPEP is open to first-year and sophomore students who meet other eligibility criteriaVisit the SHPEP National Program Office website to learn more. For students who are not eligible for SHPEP, we recommend they check out the "For Students" section of the website, which includes pathway resources and other opportunities to gain research and clinical exposure.
