Job Opportunity: Clinical Research Assistant, The Head Impact and Trauma Surveillance Study (Boston University SOM)

We are seeking a talented individual to serve as the Research Assistant for a groundbreaking longitudinal research study, conducted entirely online. This new, multidisciplinary, NIH-funded study will examine the risk of long-term cognitive and neuropsychiatric impairment and dementia from previous repetitive head impact exposure in contact/collision sports. HITSS will recruit and study 2400 former soccer players (1200 women, 1200 men) and 2400 former American football players (all men), across levels of play (youth, high school, college, or elite/professional), ages 40-75. HITSS participants will be co-enrolled in the existing internet-based Brain Health Registry (BHR) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Qualifications
• Bachelors’ degree (or equivalent) in Psychology/Neuropsychology, Neuroscience, Public Health, Sports Medicine, Pre-Med track, or related field
• Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
• Proven excellence as a team player

The Interventional Pain Management Office of Dr. Mathew Lefkowitz, MD, is looking for motivated and hard-working medical assistants. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn about and participate in all aspects of clinical medicine.
 
Job Description:
In this full-time job, you will work directly with the doctor, a group of medical assistants, administrative staff, and patients. On the patient-facing side, assistants learn to take an accurate and thorough history, assess vital signs, and assist with various interventional pain management procedures. By interacting directly with patients, assistants learn about anatomy, symptomatology, and pharmacology as related to pain medicine and management. On the administrative side, assistants learn to organize patient appointments, assist with chart notes, liaison with other doctors and healthcare professionals, and help manage varied facets of insurance. Assistants also become familiar with the electronic health system and how technology integrates with patient-care. In this fast-paced, hands-on work environment, assistants cultivate the skills to work effectively in a group, communicate effectively with patients, and clinically treat disease.
 
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree and the successful completion of premedical coursework or a post-baccalaureate premedical program
- Intention to matriculate into medical school

Job Opportunity: Study Coordinator, Eating Anxiety Treatment Lab University of Louisville

Dr. Levinson, the Director of the Eating Anxiety Treatment (EAT) Lab at the University of Louisville (UofL) is hiring a study coordinator/research outcome coordinator. The position will involve working with clinical participants with eating disorders on a wide range of NIH and internally funded projects, primarily focused on treatment development via technology. Some projects you will be involved with include, a randomized controlled trial of an online exposure intervention for eating disorders, virtual reality treatment development, and developing software to personalize eating disorder treatment. This position will also involve working on grant proposals and publications, conducting diagnostic assessments, assisting with data preparation, assisting with institutional review board protocols, and working with a large interdisciplinary team both at UofL and with cross-site collaborators. The study coordinator will work very closely with Dr. Levinson and her team on a day to day basis.

 

The research outcome coordinator position involves working at a large and growing eating disorder and OCD clinic, also directed by Dr. Levinson. This position is primarily in charge of collecting and managing eating disorder and OCD outcome data for the outpatient and intensive-outpatient programs, as well as working with eating disorder patients to collect data, and assist with administrative tasks.

 

Opportunities for involvement in publications and presentations at national conferences are available. Minimum experience is a bachelors’ degree in psychology or a related field. Research experience is a must. This position is ideal for someone wanting to go to graduate school in a health-related field. This is a 1-year position with potential for a second year or longer depending on funding and performance.
