The Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Columbia University Medical Center seeks a Technician B with a background in molecular biology and tissue culture to
assist the Principal Investigator of a dynamic, publication-driven research lab
that studies malaria. More details about the lab can be found at http://microbiology.columbia.edu/fidock.
The successful applicant will assist with the
daily activities of a research group focused on Plasmodium
falciparum parasite biology with a particular emphasis on understanding the
molecular basis of drug resistance in malaria, drug discovery research, and the
role of genes in malaria pathogenesis. The Technician B will be expected to conduct P.
falciparum culture work, including maintenance of parasites, drug assays,
generation of drug-resistant parasites, and parasite cloning, under
supervision. S/he will also be expected to assist with general lab management
including maintaining adequate supplies of reagents, national/international
