Clinical Opportunity: WALLE Program at NYP Hospitals

New York-Presbyterian hospitals are recruiting college students over the age of 18, to serve as WALLE interns in the NYP/ Columbia Ambulatory Care Network clinics and emergency departments. WALLE interns help patients complete clinical and social determinant screenings prior to their visit, assist patients to identify community resources available to address their social needs, and support patients with general health education. Interns are required to commit to at least one full academic semester (4-5 months), working at least 8 hours per week during weekdays. Interns will be provided with training on health literacy, social determinants of health, motivational interviewing, and patient interaction. Those that complete 256 hours per semester will be provided a stipend. We are continuously seeking interns throughout the year, with a preference for those that are bilingual in Spanish, Arabic, or French. This is one of the best opportunities for interested students as they will obtain direct patient interaction experience and earn a stipend while also making valuable connections with healthcare professionals.
