Job Opportunity: Research Assistant, Center for OCD and Related Disorders

The Center for OCD and Related Disorders, directed by Dr. Blair Simpson, is seeking a full-time and a part-time Research Assistant. The Center for OCD and Related Disorders is part of the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University Medical Center. The mission of our center is to improve the lives of individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related problems, by advancing our understanding of and the treatment for these disorders. This position is ideal for someone interested in translating science into new treatments for patients with anxiety, OCD, and related disorders and who is considering applying to either medical or graduate school. Because of the training involved in this position, a two-year commitment is requested. The estimated date of hire is Summer (June - August) 2021. 

Research Assistants will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring clinical trials and biological research. The position will involve working on teams with both clinicians and scientists and will expose one to a wide range of research, while also providing in-depth experience with clinical populations. Duties may include patient recruitment and scheduling, patient screening, data collection and management, neurocognitive testing, brain imaging procedures, collecting, and processing biological samples, IRB procedures, grant applications, and/or manuscript preparation.
