Volunteer Opportunity: Columbia COVID-19 Virtual Symposium

The COVID-19 Virtual Symposium began April 2020 at the peak of the pandemic in an effort to inform our Columbia community and beyond on the latest research done to better understand COVID-19. 

Since April 2020 we have organized 37 Symposia and are now looking for new volunteers to help!

 

The Symposium is held once a month, typically on a Wednesday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.  

 

Open volunteer positions are listed below.  

 

  1. Team Manager (1 open position) 
    1. Communicate with Symposium organizers (Drs. Andrea Califano, Stephan Goff, Eric Greene, Andrew Marks)
    2. Recruit speakers and communicate with them about the final Symposium agenda and Zoom info. 
    3. Work with the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research to update webpage
    4. Work with webinar support group at MSPH to organize Zoom links/invitation, and advertising COVID-19 Virtual Symposium to our listserv
    5. Attend Wednesday Symposium to make sure everything runs smoothly

 

  1. Video Editor (2 open positions)
    1. Edit recorded talks into individual segments, and post on YouTube page

 

  1. Summary Writers (multiple open positions)
    1. Write short summaries for the talks presented and submit summaries to team manager in a timely manner
