founded on the belief that students can be agents to increase and promote health and justice for all. We believe the most effective way to advance global health equity is to develop long-term partnerships with existing grassroots organizations that understand and serve their communities. Columbia's GlobeMed chapter works closely with GWED-G, a grassroots nonprofit in Gulu, Uganda, to design and implement an HIV/AIDS and maternal health project each year. During the school year we collaborate, fundraise and raise awareness about global health issues. In the summer, five of our members intern in Gulu to evaluate and improve our project. GlobeMed provides incredible leadership opportunities and practical experience for anyone interested in global health, social justice, nonprofits, human rights, healthcare, development work, marketing and design, communications,
or
business and event management.
