Technician B, Mouse Neurobehavior Core (MNBC) at Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM)




This is a behavioral neuroscience research position in the Mouse Neurobehavior Core (MNBC) at the Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) in Manhattan, New York.

Hours/week: 35


The successful candidate will possess training in, and take on the responsibility for,
conducting a wide range of behavioral assays to evaluate behavioral phenotypes in
mouse genetic models of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
The Technician B will work under the supervision of Dr. Mu Yang, Director of the

Specific responsibilities: Test mouse models of neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders in a wide
range of behavioral tests, including seizure, circadian activity, neuromuscular functions,
locomotion and balance, sensory functions, anxiety and depression-like behaviors,
neurological reflexes, developmental milestones, social behaviors, social communication,
and complex cognitive functions. Assist in maintaining and organizing records on mouse colony, facilitate breeding and
mouse colony management. Assist in analyzing mouse behaviors from recorded videos, using specialized software. Assist in collecting, managing, and analyzing data; making graphs for presentations
and scientific publications. Perform general duties to assist in the management of the MNBC lab and facilities.
May assist with managing records, purchasing, routine communications, and other related
tasks.


Required:
Bachelor’s degree.


Preferred:
Degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology or a related area. Considerable experience
in rodent behavioral testing.
