Volunteer Opportunity: Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Weill Cornell

Volunteer IPF Coordinator

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking volunteers to assist with coordination and monitoring of patients with lung disease.

Summary
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with an interest in healthcare to gain experience working with patients with interstitial lung disease, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with recruitment of patients into research registries and therapeutic clinical trials
• Assist with starting a Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group for patients
• Assist with supportive care of patients including arrangements for home oxygen
• Medication management and investigation and coordination of outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation programs
• Assist with coordination of grants submissions
• Assist with coordination of special events

Requirements
• Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner
• Must be dependable and punctual
• Be courteous and personable when dealing with the patients
• Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented
• Strong computer skills – will train on EPIC electronic medical record system

Time Commitment
4-8 hours/week flexible within the hours of 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.
