The Institute of Human Nutrition (IHN) at Columbia University provides outstanding academic, professional education and training programs in human nutrition, and conducts basic science and translational research on the role of nutrition in human health. IHN programs include projects, symposia and other initiatives for health practitioners, scientists, policy makers, educators, and individuals that advance understanding of the importance of nutrition for individuals and populations worldwide.
The 12-month Master of Science in Human Nutrition program prepares students for one of several possible further directions in which advanced training may be pursued. Many MS graduates go on to train in a laboratory discipline pertinent to nutrition, enter medical or dental school, or work a public health field in which knowledge of nutrition figures significantly.
