Job Opportunity: Neurology Research at UT Southwestern

Dr. Elan D. Louis, the chair of the Department of Neurology at University of Texas Southwestern, is interested in hiring 4 full-time paid research associates (RA) who will be involved in the study of Cognition in Essential Tremor (COGNET) to start in May 2020 and the Risks Underlying Essential Tremor (RULET) to start also in May 2020. These studies are attempting to understand the connection between and progression of cognitive decline in Essential Tremor (ET) and the environmental effects as a cause for neuro-degenerative diseases (i.e.: Essential Tremor and Parkinson's Disease).

The RA will travel within the US to conduct in-person visits, which include neuro-psychological testing and videotaped neurological examinations. The RA will learn about aspects of clinical research from study design to data collection and publication, how to recognize a range of involuntary movements, and is strongly encouraged to conduct independent research. B.A./B.S. degree, driver’s license, and experience working with elderly individuals/vulnerable populations are required. Candidates must be able to commit 2 years to the position.
