Job Opportunity: Clinical Research, University of Texas Southwestern Neurology Dept.

Dr. Elan D. Louis, the chairman of the Department of Neurology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, is interested in hiring full-time paid clinical research assistants (RA) who will be involved in the study of Cognition in Essential Tremor (COGNET), the Essential Tremor Brain Bank and different pilot studies on Essential Tremor, to start in March-May 2022. These studies are attempting to understand the connection between and progression of cognitive decline in Essential Tremor (ET) along with the environment and diet as causes for neuro-degenerative diseases (i.e.: Essential Tremor and Parkinson's Disease).

The RA will travel within the US to conduct in-person visits, or remote zoom interviews, which include neuro-psychological testing and videotaped neurological examinations. The RA will learn about aspects of clinical research from study design to data collection and publication, how to recognize a range of involuntary movements, and is strongly encouraged to conduct independent research.
 
B.A./B.S.  or a Master’s degree, driver’s license, and experience working with elderly individuals/vulnerable populations are required depending on the position. Candidates must be able to commit 2 years to the position.
