- Requirements: The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Office of Graduate Studies is seeking participants for the SURF Program from May 18, 2026 – July 24, 2026. The SURF Program offers participants the opportunity to choose from 17 areas of research in the biomedical sciences, including Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Epidemiology, Genetics & Epigenetics, Microbiology & Immunology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Physiology and Public Health Sciences. Qualified candidates must be a US citizen and/or Permanent resident who is a current sophomore or junior; other undergraduates considered. Next-Generation Cancer Internship & Training Excellence (NEXCITE) Program

- Requirements: The Next-Generation Cancer Internship Program, funded by the American Cancer Society, offers students meaningful, firsthand exposure to cancer research. We are currently recruiting participants for the 2026 cohort, which includes a 10-week summer intensive in Miami followed by year-round mentoring and career development opportunities. NEXCITE scholars will engage in hands-on, cutting-edge biomedical research, clinical shadowing, structured career development workshops, and networking events with distinguished faculty at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Eligible applicants must be enrolled at an institution of higher education within our catchment area (Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, or Palm Beach counties) and should be current sophomores or juniors; other undergraduates may be considered. There is no citizenship requirement. The program is for undergraduate college students to increase their awareness and enthusiasm for opportunities to work in cancer research, a health profession, or other health-related science care.
