Conference Event: Latino Medical Student Association National Conference in April

Greetings,

On behalf of the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), the Northeast Executive Board and Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine would like to invite pre-medical students to join us at LMSA's 12th Annual National Conference in conjunction with the 44th Northeast Regional Conference. The conference will take place from April 7th - 9th at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine in Hempstead, NY.

The theme of this year's conference is "Aqui Estamos: Our Journey and the Climb to Greater Heights." We aim to highlight our commitment to the discussion of the state of health care for all people in our community and to proudly proclaim that we are here to shape the future of health care for the betterment of all. We invite pre-medical students to join us in being part of another amazing conference where young healthcare professionals can focus on their professional development and learn to engage in meaningful dialogue with our healthcare leaders. With that in mind, we announce our keynote speakers: Dr. Darrell  G. Krich, MD and Dr. Camara Phyllis Jones, MD, MPH, PhD:
Dr. Darrell G. Kirch, MD is the president and chief executive officer of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). A distinguished physician, educator, and medical scientist, Dr. Kirch speaks and publishes widely on the need for transformation in the nation’s health care system and how academic medicine can lead change across medical education, biomedical research, and patient care. He has had an active career as a clinical psychiatrist and researcher in neuroscience, and has held medical faculty positions at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the Medical College of Georgia, and George Washington University.
Dr. Camara Phyllis Jones, MD, MPH, PhD is Research director on social determinants of health and equity in the Division of Adult and Community Health, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Dr. Jones is a family physician and epidemiologist whose work focuses on the impact of racism on the health and well-being of the nation.
