Job Opportunity: Population Research Project Associate II, Neurology- UTSW

 Dr. Elan D. Louis, the Chair of the Department of Neurology at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas (UTSW) is interested in hiring a full-time Population Research Associate who will be involved in all the current ongoing studies. The position requires ability to write scientific papers based on the data collected, assist Dr. Louis with datasets and manuscripts, use of statistical analysis and participate in management of data. Experience and Education
Ph.D. in related field with major coursework in field of assignment OR; Masters degree in related field and four (4) years experience in behavioral, social science or public health OR; Bachelors degree in related field and six (6) years experience, social science or public health.

Preferred Qualification

Prefer bilingual fluency in English and Spanish. 

Prefer a PhD in epidemiology or a Master’s degree in epidemiology or biostatistics

Job Description

A vibrant and collaborative scientific group studies numerous aspects of neurological disease etiology and pathogenesis. These studies follow a number of longitudinal cohorts of neurological patients, on whom exquisite phenotypic and biomarker data are collected, yielding large data sets that are ripe for analysis and preparation of manuscripts for peer-submission.
This individual will spearhead data analysis and paper writing efforts from these data sets. 
 

Job Duties
Perform qualitative interviews and/or administer quantitative surveys to research participants. 
Prepares protocols and detailed summaries for multiple research studies. 
Apply advanced knowledge of research methodology and techniques to develop more complex survey instruments; evaluate methodologies and tools and suggest modifications for improvement. 
Perform a variety of complex and independent activities involved in the analysis and interpretation of results and the preparation of manuscripts for publication. 
Contribute to reports, papers and other publications; prepare tables and graphs for publication and presentation. 
Assist in developing and submitting grant proposals. 
Supervise data collectors and data analysts. 
Performs other duties as assigned.
