The symposium, which is 100% student organized and run, was created in 2018 with the goal of establishing an open forum for discussing issues related to the health of individuals around the world.
The theme for this year’s Symposium is: Decolonizing Global Health. We will be focusing on the impact of colonialism, how it manifests itself in current local and global health disparities, and amplifying the voices of communities we seek to serve. This event will be held virtually this year, from Friday, March 26th through Sunday, March 28th. As part of this symposium, we will be featuring keynote speakers as well as a panel of international professionals who advocate for and are integral to their community's health. This will include professionals from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, as well as a professional extensively involved in the health of Native American communities in the US. This will give students the opportunity to meet and connect with experts and gain new cultural perspectives as well.
