Dr. Elan D. Louis, the chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, is interested in hiring one full-time paid research associate (RA) who will be involved in the study of Cognition in Essential Tremor (COGNET) to start in May 2021 This study is attempting to understand the connection between and progression of cognitive decline in Essential Tremor (ET) (i.e.: Essential Tremor and Parkinson's Disease).
The RA will travel within the US to conduct in-person visits (or remotely via Zoom), which include neuro-psychological testing and videotaped neurological examinations. The RA will learn about aspects of clinical research from study design to data collection and publication, how to recognize a range of involuntary movements, and is strongly encouraged to conduct independent research. B.A./B.S. degree, driver’s license, are required, and experience working with elderly individuals/vulnerable populations is preferred. Candidates must be able to commit 2 years to the position.
